Hello from Miss Solveig. I am a born and raised Alaskan. I moved out of my hometown of Juneau in 2002 and have been a Vally girl ever since. I have worked at Fronteras since the day we opened our doors in the fall of 2008, first as a recess/lunch monitor and then as the Administrative Secretary. My, now 21-year-old, daughter was in our first kindergarten class and promoted out of 8th grade. I am very passionate about the gift of a second language and the advantages it provides those who accomplish learning a second language. Fronteras is not just a place I go to work; it is a second home and where I find so much joy supporting student learning.
During my free time I enjoy exercising, being outdoors, cooking, baking, traveling and quiet time with my husband. We have two fur babies, Honey and Pablo, that can be seen often around the Fronteras campus keeping guard and chancing bunnies.
The best part of my job is interacting with our students. Please always feel free to reach out to me if there is something I can do to better support your students’ educational experience
My name is Amanda Strickler. I am a part of the 4/5 team here at Fronteras. This year I will be teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies. This is the start of 7th year at Fronteras and my 15th year in the field of Education. Depending on the season, outside school you can find me exploring new trails, trying new food, and spending quality time with my family.
Guin Hill has been teaching in the Matsu school district for twenty-one years and is thrilled to be a part of the Fronteras Spanish Immersion Program. She teaches P.E. for grades K-8 and middle school health, and some of her favorite units to teach include team building, archery, trail hiking/running, skiing, skateboarding, rollerblading, soccer, Native youth Olympics, rock climbing, and engaging fitness games that build developmental standards. Guin enjoys incorporating Spanish vocabulary into her lessons, with a strong emphasis on fostering a growth mindset and developing confidence in physical literacy. In her free time, she loves outdoor activities such as surfing, snowboarding, skiing, biking, swimming, running, and hiking with her friends and family.
Hi, my name is Alexis Brown. I started teaching music in 2018 and truly enjoy spending my days in the classroom. I am passionate about instilling a love of music in my students and encouraging them to be lifelong music makers. When I am not teaching I love to hike, kayak, and spend time outdoors with my husband and dog. My favorite thing about Fronteras is the collaborative and supportive environment for students and staff alike.
Hello everyone! My name is Miss Roxie and I am one of the school monitors. You will see me at recess and hanging out during lunchtime. My son Asher Bordelon attends Fronteras and we’ve so enjoyed being part of this school and learning a new language. See you on the playground!
